How to choose a monitor for Mac mini?

Hello!
Bought a Mac mini (latest, MGEM2RU/A).
Connected to an old monitor (ASUS VW195N, 1440x900) via an HDMI/DVI adapter.
Bought for iOS development.
Faced with an unpleasant problem, it is impossible to design the interface on the existing monitor. When simulating the iPhone 6, the simulator screen does not fit on the monitor, the fonts are somehow "chopped", in general, the picture quality is very different from the picture on the iSO device.
How to choose the right monitor? I don’t want to pay 30 thousand for a monitor, in which case it would be easier to buy an iMac. That is, I want to put in 10-15 thousand. What characteristics to look at, only the screen resolution?
Thank you!

@premas

If you don't have the money to buy a thunderbold display, then look at the pixel density and resolution. Well, to have an IPS-matrix of course.
