How do the Hue Strip options work in Adobe Photoshop CC 2015.5.1?

I understand that the Hue Wheel options, when selecting a brush and pressing Ctrl+Shift+Alt+RMB, bring up the color wheel.
But how to invoke and see what the Hue Strip option does?

wheel - a wheel is drawn
Strip - a stripe is drawn instead of a wheel.
To see exactly the same: Press Alt+Shift+RMB. Ctrl is not required.
This combobox customizes the appearance of the "color picker".
