Help with choosing a laptop

Hello. I don't know much about laptops, so I decided to ask you for help. You need a laptop for studying: programming, term papers, labs and so on. I do not rule out that occasionally I can play games of medium demands: Dota, CS, maybe some strategies. Films. Working time need about 4-5 hours.
What features would you recommend?
Screen: I only know that preference should be given to matte. What else?
Operative: I think that 2 giga is enough.
Processor: I think for programming / mat. programs, occasionally medium games fit i5. 2+GHz
Winchester: I don't think it will play a special role.
Video card: in this paragraph for laptops I don’t know at all. The only thing that is desirable is discrete.
By manufacturers: reliability / price / quality I like Asus

more. Correct / add my notes regarding the characteristics for the student, because I admit that I am mistaken in something.
Budget: $700 ±
Is there really anything to pick up?

Maybe someone else knows where it is more profitable to take: Belarus or Germany / Austria? In the second case, I will take it personally, that is, without additional payment for delivery, and so on.

Exciting, of course, the first laptop and all :) but there is nothing specific in your requirements, so anyone will do. According to Parkinson's law (well, almost ;) a good laptop will cost exactly as much money as allotted for its purchase. But in practice, a lot more. Therefore, compare the configuration, subjective feedback and keyboard pattern.

What confused you in your wishes: little RAM with high requirements for the processor. For me, you can safely demand 4-6GB.
Of those with i5 and normal conditions (discrete card, matte screen, DDR3 and all that), you should pay attention to the ASUS P53SJ, specifically two modifications: one and two . The difference between them is small (processor, RAM, bluetooth, hard, pre-installed Windows), then you have to choose yourself.
I myself literally took a Samsung 300E5Z a month ago , but I had a smaller budget, because. I rarely need a laptop. Processor i3, and so everything meets the requirements. The only minus found is the screen quality is shit.

IMHO you need to watch hard ssd, so that it is not excruciatingly painful. All the same, the role will play. But this can be done later with an upgrade, so to speak. You can't change the screen like that.
I also advise you to consider waterproof keyboards. Students are such students ... And ASUS is still more show-off and gloss. IBM made good work laptops with the ThinkPad series. Look what's there now.

For such tasks, i3 + 4gb ram + ssd is enough for me - it turns out smartly, balanced and without overpayment. True, I'm more into web development, I don't compile anything, you may need i5, although I'm not at all sure that it will give a noticeable increase in speed. 2 GB of RAM is definitely not enough. Almost any modern discrete card normally pulls DotA and CS.

And I think it’s worth abandoning a discrete video card and i5 in the direction of RAM and ssd - it will be more comfortable. As for games, I have a normal flight on the built-in video and pentium t4500 “Dota, CS, maybe some strategies”.

Bought this for Christmas as a gift . MatLab and Mopac consider it pretty fast for a laptop, Mass Effect 3 does not slow down at all at maximum settings. I wouldn’t take one myself, the keyboard is uncomfortable, but otherwise everything is very good, although Acer.

There is not enough memory, the processor (if SB) - then i3 is enough.
Now 8GB is not very enough for me, despite the fact that I usually have a browser open, Gajim and a bunch of consoles with ssh.
