Hardware video capture from the monitor screen

Greetings.

Many of us are aware of the existence of special software for capturing images and video from the monitor screen. For example, Camtasia Studio, Lotus ScreenCam, Adobe Captivate and many others.

A couple of months ago I read somewhere that there are even special boards that are also designed for hardware recording of screen video. Unfortunately, I did not save this source and do not know how to find it again. A Google search for the phrase "video capture card" gives links to slightly different equipment, usually associated with video surveillance.

Tell me links or at least some information where you can buy such equipment for capturing video from the screen and do they exist at all?
