Freelancing, systems programming and controllers?

Good evening. I'm a master's student at a technical university. Transferred from another specialty to ICT, we focus on system programming and controller programming, working with FPGAs. Since I'm new in this field, I have to study everything at a frantic pace, since the tasks are at a serious level, and I still have an initial level.
I wanted to know if it is possible to freelance in low-level programming. I know the basics of circuitry, ala arduino I will design, reconnoiter and assemble. Is it worth it?
I myself like it and it’s interesting, but to be honest, my hands fall as I look at the message boards (there is almost one Java, yes 1C), and there is only one web on freelance sites, I’m afraid that I’ll have to relearn to work.

@vvafree

in this case, the experience of an engineer, not an IT specialist, is damn important.
those. know what and how and what works in real life and what cases happen.
believe me, arduino is a stickman, not even a frame, but one hieroglyph of a future multi-volume book.
very high frequencies are required for a specialist, for example, in engines, and without the presence on the spot and experience, no one will let it in for objective reasons: you will burn it, but it can cost lam and higher.
often you need to look at the signals, hit the board yourself, swipe your finger, etc.
therefore physical presence is highly recommended
. My advice is to go to the state-sharaga, such as a local radio factory. But only where there really is a full-fledged design bureau and its own developments. You will get experience there and a couple of pennies for beer no more. (students are considered garbage there).
At the same time, you can cut something of your own. smart home for example, or for cars stray.
Trying to promote it, writing articles at the beginning in a radio cat, then on easy, then on habr - they will criticize and you will get the practical experience of strangers. Well, your own if it comes to a prototype and launching it.
It is quite possible to learn how to develop, improve and sell on your own without depending on anyone. There are many examples on Habré DiHalt for example.
