CMS vs PHP Framework. What to choose for freelancing?

I know HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery quite well. I worked on pure PHP, but there were no serious projects, so it's hard to say how well I speak it. I want to go freelancing to make websites. I want to ask what to choose - CMS or PHP Framework (I like Laravel)? I'm not particularly familiar with either one.

These are different segments of the MARKET.
I dare to suggest that since you ask what is better for you personally CMS.
Frameworks are more expensive jobs, but they require a very different skill set.
Mass works are CMS

Freelancing has more CMS orders. But you need to choose both a CMS and a framework so as not to be a limited engine and be able to do more complex projects.
Quoted from CMS: WordPress, Bitrix, MODX, Opencart.
From PHP frameworks: Laravel, Symfony, Yii2.

I'm wondering in such a formulation of the question, what, in your opinion, does it take time to master frameworks as such, if you don't know any of them yet? I understand that from the same Laravel it will take two weeks to switch to Django before a person can write something intelligible, this is taking into account the fact that there are two different languages and during this time you still need to delve into Python, maybe someone is faster .
But without knowledge of web frameworks, you can only go somewhere as a junior after reading the framework documentation and a little experience so as not to engage in obvious sabotage.
Another moment, now there is such a fashion for "freelancing", like it has come and a queue of customers has already lined up ... Maybe on really pumped accounts, people really do well, but they have a huge portfolio, and usually, this is a team, not just one freelancer. Not a bunch of other things.
It turns out that 100% you will not be able to make a quality order if you want to master the framework on your knee, without understanding the architecture and other things.
Well, as far as I know, freelancers order modules for CMS more than ready-made sites, since CMS is needed so that any cook can not only manage the country, but also make a website.
If you are really engaged in making small and medium-sized sites, then I would advise Yii2, not Laravel, since it has more tools to do something quickly, there should not be much difference in development speed in a long-term project.
In general, success in mastering something and the market. You can always try to look for clients in your city, or in neighboring cities, it can be much more profitable than freelancing.

In fact, the same answer is, and not once, above, but simply as a plus to the previous answers, and to expand a little:
If you make websites , this is CMS. Wordpress is the most popular in the world and in Russia, and it is good enough that you can stop at it and (at least at first) not think about anything else.
In Russia, there is also a specific segment of Bitrix. The specificity is that Bitrix has been full for a long time , but in fact many customers have been grabbing its advertising, and continue to inject themselves and eat the cactus.
From frameworks in the world number 1 - Laravel 5, in Russia while Yii2 overtakes it (in the world Yii2 almost does not exist). But frameworks are not for sites, but for web applications (although, of course, it is impossible to mark the line between a small application and a sprawling site).
