During a Skype call, an unknown man appeared. How can this be?

During a Skype conversation, my interlocutor and I stopped seeing each other and an image of an unfamiliar man appeared on my screen. This happened twice. Conference calls were not turned on, other calls were not answered. Can strangers connect, listen in and record my Skype conversations? Is there any way to find out who was connected to my skype at that moment?
