Do I need specific pins on the SFF-8087 to SFF-8482 cable to connect SAS drives directly without a backplate?

There is a home server, it has a flashed LSI MegaRaid 9240-8i controller in HBA mode and HGST HUS726040AL5214 SAS disks are connected to it via the HP backplate, and all this is assembled on the knee and is not fixed in the case because there is no basket for this backplate, I want to buy one piece:

and connect all the drives to the controller directly with the SFF-8087 to SFF-8482 cable, but here's the problem - as I understand it, all the cables that are sold on alik go without additional contacts in the middle of the SAS-specific drives, I'm attaching a photo from the review:

I didn’t find a clear answer whether these contacts are needed or not, a friend who deals with servers and storage systems said that these contacts are needed only in “smart” storage systems where there are several controllers, in case one fails, they say in my case are not needed.
Can you tell me, knowledgeable people, what are these contacts for?

SFF-8087 to 4x SFF-8482 is sufficient if it complies with the standard. I don’t know what’s on Ali, but the cables are quite sold with us, including from controller manufacturers. And they don't cost a fortune.
Backplane, not backplate.
On the small ones in the middle, the second controller is apparently connected (in the version with backplain). But you only have one controller, you don't need it.
The problem is only with the display of disks. The backplane usually has LEDs to highlight the desired disc. And the disks themselves are rarely equipped with LEDs.

SAS disks are "two-port", i.e. have 2 sas lines per disk and can be connected to two controllers.
