Difficult choice of system. Notebook HP R272UR, what to choose?
Hello. I have an HP R272UR laptop. I want to adapt it for study and work (HTML5 + JS + RUBY) by installing Linux. It is clear that the laptop is rather weak in terms of characteristics, but the processor in it is quite smart, made in 2014. Intel Celeron 2840 - supports both 32 and 64 bit architecture. This is all good, but there is one minus - it has 2GB of RAM, which is not enough for the normal operation of Ubuntu x64, the system monitor shows 1.5 out of 1.8 RAM load, and this is only with the browser open. What exactly is the question. 1) Which distribution kit to choose? I'm considering Ubuntu x32 or Mint x32 xfce, since 64 has such high RAM requirements. But won’t this be a minus and won’t it give me some inconvenience, since lately I’ve been actively hearing that x32 is dying out, and top applications simply stop supporting this architecture. Or just look in the direction of Mint x64 xfce, I think it will eat less than the same Unity, and there are no lenses. What would you advise, specifically on the choice of distribution kit and its bit depth? We need a working and stable system, preferably out of the box, for work (Js + Ruby) and content consumption (social networks, movies, music). Notebook system requirements : Intel Celeron N2840 processor with Intel HD Graphics (2.16 GHz, 1 MB cache, 2 cores), RAM 2 GB 1333 MHz DDR3L SDRAM (1 x 2 GB). preferably out of the box, for work (Js + Ruby) and content consumption (social networks, movies, music). celeron 2840 + ddr3 2gb for standard ubuntu 16.10 x64 unity is enough
1 if sublime text 3 + chrome (1..3 tabs), then ddr3 2..4gb is enough
2 phpstorm + chrome (3..20 tabs) + cloud + skype + .., then it is desirable ddr3 4..8gb + ssd 60..240gb
was also 2gb, now 8gb (it was a little expensive though, because there is only one slot for ddr)
hard asus x501a (pentium b980 (two cores and two threads) , hdd 320gb - I plan to change to ssd 240gb)
os ubuntu 16.10 x64 unity (+2gb skype, cloud, ..) I have been sitting on this OS for more than ten years - there is something to compare
ide phpstorm (+1..1.5gb php / js /html/css)
browser chrome (+1..2gb, gmail, for example, takes 200..400mb, adblock 100..300mb, ..)
