Why won't Windows Server 2012 R2 boot up with a SATA drive connected through a PCI-E controller?

HP DL380G7, it has Windows Srever 2012 R2 installed and running. Installed PCI-E SATA controller Marvell Espada FG-EST14A-1-BU01. The driver for it is installed, the configuration utility works, the SATA disk is visible in the system. But Windows won't boot with the drive connected. That is, if you pull out the SATA cable from the disk, then the OS loads normally, then we connect the cable - the disk is visible both in the controller and in the OS (it is being formatted, the files are copied). If you turn off or reboot with the disk connected, then after passing all the BIOS tests, Windows no longer boots - it hangs on a black screen or on the WIndows logo.
