Cloning a virtual HDD and cloning a virtual machine are different things?

There are two virtual machines, on one debian, and on the other

Win10.
A virtual machine with Windows is a clone of a machine with Debian, although Win10 was installed on it at the time of cloning ...
I hope I didn’t confuse.
There is a task, formulated as follows: "Let's clone the disk of the first virtual machine (which is where Debian is) to the second one (which is Windows). I wanted to assign the same disk in the settings of the second virtual machine to it, from which Debian is loaded on the first machine. I got an error on the output "the selected virtual disk is incompatible with this workstation 14.x virtual machine..." I'm using Workstation 15. It would be faster, of course, to stupidly clone the entire machine and delete the second one. If we simulate the situation, I will transfer the hard from one computer to another, with the same configuration, and everything will rise.

Hey!
What virtualization system is used?
On Hyper-v, for example, you can simply copy the hard disk with info, and when adding a VM, refer to it. Everything will take off 100% :)
