Can you recommend English literary material for translation?

Good afternoon!
Question for English learners. My level is (roughly) Pre-Intermediate.
To expand vocabulary and reading skills, I read (by downloading into LinguaLeo for highlighting + memorizing and further memorizing unfamiliar words) fiction from the screen. I started with adapted texts, but I want more :)
For example - George Orwell. "Animal farm a fairy story". This is an acceptable level for me - this is when there are 1-3 unfamiliar words in a paragraph and the amount of text is 40-60 pages (so as not to score). Do not suggest interesting works in the original (except for children's fairy tales), preferably historical (or fiction) that have a relatively small vocabulary or resources where they are discussed (if this is offtopic here).
PS I especially like it when you find the difference and nuances between the text translated into Russian (which I read earlier).

I would try Arthur Conan Doyle if I were you. Of course, Sherlock Holmes is not fiction, but still meets the requirement of short stories. Yes, and very exciting.
If you remove the size restrictions - Jerome K. Jerome.
