Are there iPhone fans among Habr residents?

Hi all!
Recently I got involved in another discussion "for" and "against" the iPhone on a regular (not ai-ti) forum. Fans of apple products cannot reasonably explain why the iPhone is better, they say, for example, that it is "the best gift for a girl", that "there is a breed", that "the iPhone has a stable OS and a smooth, user-friendly interface" (apparently, they have never held in their hands neither the latest Android nor Surface), etc., etc.
There were so many iPhone fans that I even began to think myself: maybe I don’t understand something? It’s just that I personally, having been dealing with computers since the age of 12 (despite the fact that I learned to program on Agata, an Apple IIe clone), I don’t see a single plus of the iPhone, moreover, I consider it extremely overrated.
I would like to listen to the reasoned opinion of professional IT-fans-iPhone users and their arguments, if possible.
Thank you.

If you are 12 years old yes on Agatha - iPhone, I'm afraid not for you :)
There is an opinion that there are two types of people.
1) those who consider a thing as a system with subsystems. You take a piece of iron in your hand, you understand that there is a processor, memory (you even know the technical characteristics), the operating system under which the applications work, and, finally, the applications themselves ... and it infuriates you that you do not You can customize the system for yourself, like your PC. It infuriates you that everyone has already decided for you what and how you should and can do.
2) those who consider the device as a finished thing. They know that this is a very decent dialer in the iPhone, with good sound quality and a fairly stable signal.
They know that the iPhone has internet. what difference does it make to them which 3G standard their device supports. It is enough for them to know that iPhones have Internet. They use applications that need the Internet. They know that the AppStore has a huge number of applications, including those that they need. And they absolutely do not care what stages the OS goes through when loading, how it starts the application, and why it is so difficult to upload your own file. They don't even care if the files exist! There is a document for them. In addition, these people do not care what kind of processor is there. God, we don’t care at all if there is a processor there. And even more so, its bit depth is not important. Yes, let it be at least liquid and analog!
that is, just a different level of abstraction of the surrounding world.
And yes, I'm in the first category. I use iPhone as a developer :)

When a person needs a toy with a set of tools, variations, the ability to look under the hood and rub playful hands, he buys a powerful smart on android.
When a person needs a device that just works and does it in the best possible way, without asking questions, without causing unnecessary convolutions to stir and does not distract from the main thought process - he buys an Apple product.

The iPhone is supported for three years.
For an android phone, a maximum of one and a half (nexus).
There are many games on the iPhone.
The iPhone has a lot of accessories.
The iPhone does not constantly glitch and does not reboot (I have 2 android devices, on official firmware)
The interface does not slow down on the iPhone (on androids, it does not slow down only on the most expensive devices).
This is already enough for most users.

Although I don’t use an iPhone as my main phone, but I often hold and set it up in my hands, I will share my opinion: the
iPhone is an ideal End-user product for an inexperienced user who at the same time wants to use the social gadgets available today. A little aside - no source codes for you, no scaling of the functionality, no variations of anything at all. Here, to each his own, according to his needs =)
Sometimes I think: I will get myself an iPhone, everything will be chocolate and "just like everyone else." And then I remember that without direct access to the file system, at the first need, he will go to the wall.
To each his own, yeah :)

You buy all the equipment from Apple, attach a card with money to the eplid and use the hardware and services without a headache.

Maybe a little off topic, I don’t have an iphone (I consider it an unreasonably expensive toy), but I actively use ipad 2. I recently bought an android phone, so I can compare the two operating systems.
Pluses of ipad 2
+ no multitasking - no need to look for an application that eats battery in the background
+ beautiful interface
+ stability (applications crash much more often on android)
+ more software, it's better (because they buy it, not download it from w3bsit3-dns.com
) still need? terminal for launching nuclear missiles?
further you can list the disadvantages of android:
- Terrible interface. He's just awful. There were a lot of articles on Habré about this. The search button, for example, I'm always looking for it (LOL looking for the search button). It is in different applications in different places. And in ios always search at the top of the list.
-androyd is super custom, you can customize everything for yourself blah blah blah. By the time you set it up, you'll go crazy. Maybe my hands are crooked. BUT nexus 4 official firmware. Turn off Wi-Fi, but it does not turn off. It turns out that if you go to the advanced wi-fi settings, then there is a checkmark to turn off wi-fi when it is turned off. HOW IS THAT???

I've switched to iPhone with WinMob yet. Somehow it happened that at home on the android there was only a Chinese tablet ... and thank God. Every time they bring to set up an androyd ... everything is different for them. Even 2 different handsets with the same firmware version are completely different. So I have comrades with samsung s3 or what was the flagship of the past year? So it's impossible to set up a normal proxy for him ... yes, it would seem ... the proxy only works for the browser, neither the market nor the applications can go to the Internet. or here's another employee, too, like the same s3, but only no one has updated her firmware since the purchase, so the phone is not seen as a usb drive (as the first friend with Samsung says - he had the same thing and is connected with the version firmware). Well, for me personally, the interface is also completely inconvenient if you climb somewhere in the settings,
Well, I myself chose the iPhone, not Android when I crawled with WinMob because it is not buggy, you don’t need to constantly reflash it, looking for which firmware is more stable or faster (although these are things of bygone days, I see that now there is almost no such thing), I played with this.

I make money on people's problems with their Windows and Android. At home (in my pocket) I just need a working device (computer, telephone). I do not need extra holes in the phone case for memory cards and external hard drive power from USB. I know how liquid gets through these slots and what happens to the device. Yes, I am ready to put up with some restrictions regarding Android devices. I am always paid for my work, and I also buy software and do not waste computing resources on anti-Kaspersky.
I never wanted to customize my Nissan Patrol (snorkel and winch as standard options) or put Ferrari headlights on a Citroen. But the VAZ2107 "out of the box" can be used, of course, but the hands were on fire to "customize". Something like this.

and why the hell to compare those. characteristics? for ios, the system and programs eat less resources, which means that powerful hardware is not needed (since Objective-C), in android DVM built on the basis of JVM and java bytecode, as a result, programs eat much more, and therefore 2,4,8 ,N cores and RAM. As a result, they work the same way ...
You need to understand that apple has never come up with something revolutionary, "there has always been something before",
however, in our world, creating this "something" is only 5% of success, and 95% of success is the ability to present and sell, and here apple has no equal! I just admire the PR genius of Jobs! so many different clever things he used! As a result, we get this

Fans of apple products cannot reasonably explain why the iPhone is better, they say, for example, that it is "the best gift for a girl", that "there is a breed", that "the iPhone has a stable OS and a smooth, user-friendly interface" (apparently, they have never held in their hands neither the latest Android nor Surface)

My first smartphone after Nokia was iPhone 4.
To be honest, I was very impressed. Then there was 4s. And at the same time, after a year, a lot of irritation accumulated.
Ugly synchronization, which rubs everything on the phone, if you reinstalled the OS on your computer or wanted to upload something from another computer.
There are no real alternatives to built-in apps like Music or Safari. And what is - in fact, just another wrapper around them.
Poor support for a variety of audio and video formats.
And they charge a lot of money for everything, i.e. There are very few useful free apps.
Small screen. Well, okay, I won’t argue here, in some use cases you don’t need a lot.
No extensibility. That is, you can’t, for example, use an OTG cable to pick up a USB flash drive or hard drive to download files or watch videos.
But the price is outrageous.
Of the undoubted advantages, this is high performance and some application niches, for example for children, are much more filled than for android.
The hardware of i-devices is very powerful, no worse than that of flagships for android + excellent camera.
But even here there is a jamb: I can put a launcher on android without root, which limits the actions of the child. To run only allowed applications and not go anywhere else. On the experience of the wife’s iPhone and iPad, after the child climbs in the device, applications disappear or move to random places on the desktop.
In short, to each his own, holivar only. I used an apple and now it is impossible to say about me that "I did not read, but I condemn." My choice is android.
I have nothing on it slows down, does not buggy and does not reboot. But the smoothness of the animation and the responsiveness of the interface are certainly not as good as on iOS. My devices are Xiaomi Mi2s and Nexus 7 from 2013.
And by the way, my wife has an iPad 3. After switching to iOS 7, she does not stop complaining about regular freezes and reboots. Full wipe did.

The screen is very good. It happens that I use some kind of android device, and then I take an iPhone - and the eye rejoices.
