A projector without a screen, directly on the wall, perhaps?

I’m thinking about buying myself a projector now, but the toad is strangling the projection screen to buy more ... and so the device is not cheap, because. I am looking at the BENQ W600 + (3D) model .
My wall is painted in a light gray even color, the paint is matte.
Advise whether it will work normally in such conditions or save money further?

I have just such a projector.
The first couple of days we looked at the sheet;) then I bought a screen - the difference is noticeable (and the screen is one of the cheapest)
In addition, I hung the screen in front of the curtains, and it acts as a dimmer

I have this model at home: market.yandex.ru/model.xml?hid=191219&modelid=5019520 I
use it without a screen, on the entire wall, painted in light gray.
The quality is excellent. 3D has not yet had a chance to try out, I watched only anaglyph.

Of course you can. Just do not forget that the quality of the picture directly depends on the color and condition (curvature) of the wall.

It is possible, but whether it will be good is difficult to answer unambiguously. If the projector is powerful (bright) or there is a possibility of good dimming, then everything depends only on the parameters of the paint on the wall.
I would definitely take the screen. The wall (white) experiments were not satisfactory, but mine is 1400 ANSI and yours is 2600, but the gray paint will eat up the contrast. You can try a sheet, you just need snow-white and ironed - you yourself understand, it should return as much light as possible.

This projector uses polarization for 3D, respectively, it is necessary that the wall does not change the polarization of the reflected light (otherwise the picture will be smeared), respectively, you can take any polarized glasses (or just take polarizers somewhere) and shine (in the dark) on the wall through one polarizer , and look through another polarizer (or glasses). It is necessary that there is a certain angle at which all the light is visible, and when turning, nothing should be visible. The smaller the sector in which the light is clearly visible, and outside it is dark, the better. If, regardless of the angle, it shines the same way (or just a large sector), then you won’t be able to look with such a wall, respectively, look for a special paint or take a screen.

3D requires a screen. Handicraft painting with "special paint" is theoretically possible, but practically - where can I get it, how can I check it, etc.? And it’s cheaper to paint a wall than to take a screen.
For flat cinema, you can do without a screen. The effect is about the same as between viewing in the light and in the dark - even pico projectors are, in principle, visible on the wall. Worse but visible.

You can, for this there is a special screen-paint. This is a professional projection coating in liquid form, applied like regular paint. Only on a perfectly flat surface.
