Xeon e3-1240 memory frequency?

Good afternoon. We have xeon e3-1240 (without any v). We also have udimm ecc memory with a frequency of 1600. All this is collected in the server, and the squeaker, when turned on, swears at memory. The specifications for the processor say that it works with memory with a frequency of 1333. I heard that the memory can lower its frequency to the one necessary for work. Tell me, should they work together? The answer in this case is not obvious, because the checkmate itself is also. the board needs a BIOS update to work with memory at 1600.
Thanks.

To answer the question, you need a PC configuration: motherboard model, memory module model.
Because in addition to compatibility, there is also the concept of memory modules recommended by the manufacturer (including the architecture of the modules).
Have you updated it?
UPD memory udimm ecc and Crucial CT4G3ERSLD8160B are different types of memory. For the specified memory model, support for registered (buffered) memory by the motherboard is required.

Memory Crucial CT4G3ERSLD8160B. Motherboard Supermicro X9SCA-F. Of course, no one has updated the BIOS yet, because the server does not start. No other memory available
