The computer has a 4gb stick. I want to buy another one. But then it became interesting, what is the best way to do it? Buy now 8gb and put to the first one in 4gb or buy for 4gb? Those. 2x4 or 4-8?
I'll clarify just in case: the computer is used not for work, but for entertainment. There is a laptop for work.

4-8 will work in single-channel mode, that is, slower.

There is never a lot of memory, especially on a working PC (especially if you like to open 10-15-20 tabs in your browser). So I'm for 4+8.

Buy at 8 and bet. It will work 4 + 4 in two-channel and the remaining 4 in single-channel.
Get both speed and volume. This is called Flex mode. Russian mixed mode.

2 to 4 GB. For throughput is higher in dual-channel mode.
