Windows 7 in a virtual machine
Hello.
I had an idea to install Windows 7 on a virtual machine, but I don't know which virtualization product to use. And the question, in fact, is this:
is it possible to put Windows on a virtual machine so that it can completely replace the second system? In particular, the sound and graphics without brakes on a virtual machine are of interest.
Test Site - openSUSE 11.2

Graphics without brakes in virtual machines do not happen, vmvarya seems to have implemented hardware graphics acceleration for Windows.
I installed WinXP on a virtual machine with VirtualBox. VirtualBox has a good thing - Seamless mode (however, VMWare and the Windows MS Virtual Machine seem to have it too). I just added the launch of the virtual machine in this mode as a new session. It worked great, but the wallpaper didn't show up.
I use the latest version of VMWare installed on WinXP. Never had any problems. Of course, 3D games will be terribly slow, but in general, the work will be normal. Installed Win7 works fine. In general, it all depends on the iron. If the CPU and the mother support VT-d (well, or AMD's analogue of this technology), then there shouldn't be any problems, because there will be direct access to the equipment. In particular, Xen seems to support this.
I have both XP and 7 installed in virtualbox ... VS2010 does not work either there or there ...
and any WPF application ... (I have firewood for VBox installed on the guest in safe mode)
This is the only inconvenience.
