Which cores are allocated to the virtual machine - only physical ones or hyperthreads?
Delivered VMWare Workstation 12 with guest MacOS. I have an i7-4790 (4 physical cores + 4 virtual ones). What cores are implied in the settings of the virtual machine? There you can choose up to 16, i.e. the program itself does not explicitly determine how many cores are in the machine, and, accordingly, I cannot understand which cores are meant here. I would like exactly half of the capacities to go to the virtual machine, i.e.
so that 2 physical and 2 virtual cores work on the guest axis

For an HT system, these are the normal kernels available for use.
You can choose more than what is in the system, then they will be emulated for the guest OS
. Choose 4 cores and don't worry. But on version 11, if you select half of the cores from the physically available, then the maximum load could be more than 50%
