Difficulties in choosing a virtualization solution in open source, what to choose?

Hello! In the light of sanctions and import substitution, there is a need to abandon vmware and veeam solutions in the medium term. Question... Is there an alternative to these products, at least some?

The key word here is decision. For example, Citrix Xen is a solution, but Xen supplied from the Debian repository is not, because in the second case you even have to configure the cluster manually. In principle, if we consider the hypervisor, then there is not much difference between vmware, kvm and xen - virtual machines work everywhere)). And here the interesting begins: you don’t need a hypervisor without support, patches and without support. Therefore, you need to go with RHEL (US) because RedHat is the main developer of kvm/libvirt or Citrix Xen (also US). Then the subtleties begin - who supports Live Migration, HA, clusters, storage, how VDI works, etc. VMWare is good in this regard because 95% of the settings can be made from an understandable console, and you will have to climb inside the hypervisor in exceptional cases. For kvm and xen, digging through giblets is a common process, however, the settings are more flexible - you can rewrite the start script or something else. I don't know if this is a plus or a minus.

Xenserver does not take a steam bath - it works and works. In general, I do not observe any problems from the virtualization system.
Everything else is jump rope with a tambourine - IMHO.
