Winchester 3tb via usb?

In general, there is such a thing Seagate STCA3000101 - an external screw inside 3TB. Seagate ST3000DM001.
I dropped it, the screw died, but I had another Seagate ST3000DM001, which I decided to insert into this box.
The essence of the problem: initially Seagate ST3000DM001 is not seen as 3TB, it needs to be formatted, but it is the same, but in the STCA3000101 box it is seen via usb immediately as 3TB.
The new formatted ST3000DM001 stuffed into this box via usb is not detected at all.
What needs to be done with him so that he starts up in this box?

@McMike

Solved the problem by standard means. Something else needed to be changed. MBR to something there even though the drive was already in GPT

Try this:
Take Linux Mint 18 Live
On it, run Gparted
Select your new HDD there, and click: Device - Create Partition Table - Apply
This way you will get an unformatted hard drive
