Will modern RAM work on an old Core i3?

Will modern 1800MHz memory run on a Core i3 processor? I heard that this processor allows no more than 1333 MHz. So the memory will not load at all, or will it work with a limit of 1333 MHz, how does a modern video card work on an old motherboard?

i3 is already 5 different generations. And they managed to cover even 3 types of memory: DDR3, DDR3L, DDR4. It is unlikely that your question is about DDR4. But you can get up on the rake of DDR3 and DDR3L compatibility - they require different voltages. As far as I remember, all i3 can DDR3, except for the new i3 6xxx. But DDR3L - seems to be only i3-4xxx and higher. When buying modules, you need to be more careful, the modules are physically identical.
This does not touch upon the issue of memory frequency at all - it is already necessary to look at a specific processor model and a specific memory subtype.
In terms of frequency - in addition, you need to look at the motherboard. The memory controller in the processor is officially very underestimated, at the discretion of the motherboard vendor (not to mention overclocking) it can regularly implement higher frequencies. True, there are not many dividends from a high frequency even on top-end Cores, but that's another story.
High frequency modules typically implement settings in the SPD at which the module should run everywhere. To obtain its nominal frequency and CL, either XMP profiles are turned on automatically or manually set the settings. Therefore, if you do not miss the type of memory, then it should start.
But when buying memory, always look at the moneyback. There are compatibility problems with this particular memory on this particular motherboard with this particular processor. And in other combinations it already works =)

It happens that it depends on the manufacturer, so buy with the possibility of an exchange in any case. I don't know about your question, but I don't think it will work.
