Will I have to reinstall the Ubuntu xfce system after replacing the processor on socket 775. Now there is a dual-core core2duo e7500. I plan to install a quad core2quad q9450. Will there be glitches on the new hardware if you leave the system as it is?

No. Problems can only occur when you recompile the kernel, leaving support for only the current type of processor.
