There are adapters from the usual PCI_E to m.2, so connecting is not a problem.
Although I'm not sure if the NVMe drive on your board will work, it is quite possible that it will not start.
There is no NVMe support on such old boards.
So it's better not to experiment, but to buy a non-NVMe drive, they are cheaper.
Take Intel or Plextor and don’t worry, with a real PCIe 3.0
