Will a cloned legacy-bios mbr version of windows 10 run on a new ssd?

There is win10 running on hdd with mbr markup and bios in legacy mode.
I'm going to buy a samsung m.2 970 evo 250gb.
Is it possible to clone the system partition with Windows from the old hdd to the new ssd with the Samsung utility and start from it, despite the fact that NVMe ssd drives seem to need only UEFI mode, and Windows now starts in legacy BIOS mode?
Or will it only work with a clean install of win10 on ssd with formatting in gpt in uefi mode and then changing the startup priority to ssd?
