Why won't MAX+Plus II run on Windows 8?

It looks like MAX+Plus II won't run on Windows 8. The console appears for a moment and disappears, I barely had time to take a screenshot. Maybe someone faced such a problem and knows the solution? Or maybe there is some alternative? And then I can’t do circuitry at home.
