Why mplayer sometimes starts chewing music? And how to fix it?

Installed fedora 26, removed pulseaudio, mplayer plays a very large playlist but sometimes starts to chew music. The computer is running without graphics. The CPU load is always minimal. music is played without interruption 18 hours a day

Thanks everyone, the problem was not in mplayer. The computer is not immediately connected to the speakers, but through dbx professional products 166xs and 131s. Turned it on directly so far and all the rules.
