Why is the specified node unreachable?
I found a cable from the router at home, I decided to combine two computers into a local network. Both machines are running Windows 8 (8.1). Previously disconnected from access to the Internet, connected with a cable. An unidentified network appeared in the network control center. turned it off, in the settings of the adapters of the first and second computers indicated ip 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2, respectively, the subnet mask was 255.255.255.0, saved it. Both computers are assigned a WORKGROUP. Turned on the connection, the network was discovered, again unidentified, access is limited. When trying to ping a neighboring machine, I received a response that the specified node is unavailable. What did I forget to set up? Tell me please. Cable photo:

Most likely yes, it's a matter of firewalls. Disable them on both machines and try pinging.
Try to do so.
1 PC:
IP address - 192.168.1.1
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0 Default
gateway - 192.168.1.2
2 PC:
IP address - 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0 Default
gateway - 192.168.1.1
So each PC will refer to the other . The main thing is not to confuse the numbers)
