Why is a certain string not being translated in WP?

Continue Reading %s does not work in Primer theme for WP . I looked at the template code - everything is fine, there are no errors:

printf( /* translators: right arrow (LTR) / left arrow (RTL) */ esc_html__( 'Continue Reading %s', 'primer' ), is_rtl() ? '&larr;' : '&rarr;' );

Other lines are translated normally. But it is this line that is somehow special) what is preventing the translation here?
