Why in debian-based distributions, at least, nvidia works many times faster than in ubuntu-based?

Take, for example, MINT.
We take the UBUNTU-based branch (Petra + MATE 64 bit).
We put the recommended drivers for NVIDIA - 319.xx and run glxgears.
We get about 2700 fps (the Sync to VBlank checkbox is unchecked, nothing else is running).
We take debian-based LMDE, MATE 64 bit
Install the same recommended drivers (319.72)
Run glxgears - we get 4700 fps.
The machine is one, the video card (GF210) is also one.
When installing ubuntu (xubuntu) or debian (debian 7) themselves, the picture is absolutely identical.

Yes. But there is canonical, after whose intervention it is difficult to predict the distribution's behavior.
