Why doesn't the Ubuntu 14.04 graphical shell boot up after the upgrade?
Hello!
After updating the system and installing the Mesa-vdpau-drivers package , the graphical shell stopped loading. Grub loads, then hangs on orange dots :) the keyboard does not respond. Nomodeset doesn't help. I went through the command line through recovery, removed Mesa-vdpau-drivers , but installed fglrx and xfce :)
In general, sadness :)
It's not clear what to do now, help :)

Option 1:
Remove Mesa-vdpau-drivers via apt-get purge, there might be some garbage left. Did not help? We remove xorg in the same way and then install it.
Option 2.
put the file /var/log/Xorg.failsafe.log on pastebin. Without logs - fortune telling. you can also systemctl status xdm (or what does ubuntu use as a manager?) Although deleting should help.
