Why does the price for a domain name vary greatly between registrars?
I noticed that for the same free domain name in the ru zone, the price for reg.ru is 199 rubles / year, and for nic.ru - 600 rubles / year.
What is such a big difference? After all, there are, therefore, some differences, otherwise why pay more?

It just lures customers under the guise of cheap domain names. Normal dumping.
Depends solely on the "greed" of the registrar. All registrars sell to partners (hosters) around 90 rubles per domain. As far as I heard, in general, a domain costs them around 70 (pay to the registry or something like that). And at retail, who is what much.
Therefore, domains can be cheaper for hosters, since they make the main money not on domains, but on hosting. For example, my hoster sells RU and RF for 150 firstvds.ru/products/domain_names
Often, hosters, as part of various promotions, give a domain for free as a load on hosting.
But not all hostings are "equally useful" in this regard. Someone, when leaving them, may try to start tinkering about transferring the domain.
just reg.ru the well-known cybersquatter = you will order from him, and he will already "take" everything,
usually when paying for hosting from 6 months. domain goes for a year as a gift
