Why does one monitor have 2 hdmi connectors?

The system unit has 1 monitor connector - hdmi, so I can only connect 1 monitor. But the monitor has 2 hdmi connectors, why? Can I really connect a second monitor through it?

Are you sure it's HDMI and not DisplayPort? They are quite similar.

Some especially cool monitors can be connected in a chain and display the picture piece by piece, forming a wall of monitors.
