Why does a compressed folder after copying to a flash drive open with a very long download?

The folder on the computer has been compressed with 7-ZIP into the ZIP folder format. Opens almost instantly after compression. But after copying the compressed folder to a flash drive, and trying to open it there, there is a very long download, 5-10 minutes. Is this normal, or is something wrong?
