Why do you need expensive clouds with traffic restrictions when hosting physical servers or regular VDS provide much more tempting offers?

Why do you need expensive clouds with traffic restrictions when hosting physical servers or regular VDS provide much more tempting offers?

Let's take digital ocean. Tariff for 5 bucks. That is more than 300 rubles. 1 TB of traffic. Seriously?
OK. Maybe something more reasonable? The tariff is the most expensive for 960 bachi. They seem to give good iron. Although on the same ovx or hatzner you can take a lot of dedics with gigabit and better iron. 12 TB of traffic. Seriously??? What is enough for these miserable 12 TB? A Russian virtual machine bought from a normal hoster in the Russian Federation on a 100 Mbit channel will give 30TB per month. And there the price will be 300-500 rubles.

Why do these hosters and all sorts of clouds still exist? Where do they get their bread from? Personally, I see unreasonably high prices. It would be nice if traffic was free.

Moreover, people say that they manage to save money. Where are the savings from? Who are all these hosts for?
What can a small project get out of these hosts?

"small project" doesn't need Amazon.
Not all projects are "small".
Threat It's hard when you live in your narrow little world and you can't imagine something that goes beyond its scope.

Expensive? My bill for my dev environment in Yandex.Cloud last month was 1 kopeck. You need to be able to cook clouds.
The client was transferred to Serverless in AWS from a monolith that month. The bill went from $150 to $7 per month.
