Why can't the screen resolution be changed?

Faced such a problem: during the next boot of the computer, something went wrong in the BIOS. 1 long beep and 4 short beeps. Despite the fact that the computer was not working before, a message appeared about the processor overheating. By pressing F1 I saw the following: "not everything fit on the screen" - well, that is, only a part of the BIOS screen with the settings was visible, the rest was, as it were, "behind the screen". CPU temperature 70. I press Esc - exit without saving. Windows 8.1 boots up - and already on the password entry screen I see that the resolution has changed. You cannot change it - the line with the choice of resolution is inactive. Reinstalled drivers on Geforse 760, no change. I turned off the computer, took out the video card, wiped the contacts, put it back in. No changes. In the device manager, the video card is registered correctly, AIDA also shows it. There is no overheating. In furmark up to 80 heating. Coolers on both the video card and the processor work. What is the problem and how to solve it?
PS: before this happened 8 times the computer generally after the Windows boot screen (the window in the center of the screen) went dead, and the monitor wrote no signal detected. The system manager works, but nothing is displayed on the monitor. At the same time, no overheating errors popped up.
I did not touch the system, I did not install any new applications, I did not change the hardware. The computer is 5 years old. Periodically I clean from dust.
