Why can't conky see fonts?

Completely refuses to see any font. When use_xft no writes to the console “conky: can't load font 'Ubuntu:size=7,weight:bold' ” every time a font is mentioned (and any), with use_xft yes , of course “conky: can't load Xft font ' Ubuntu:size=7,weight:bold'". I already tried to create .fonts in my home folder, throw a couple of fonts there, update the cache - it's still the same story. What could be the problem?
