Why can a top laptop slow down?
I have an ASUS N750JK laptop that is already 6 years old
- Intel® Core™ i7 4700HQ
- 16 Gb DDR3L 1600 MHz
- NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX850M (drivers are the latest)
- (added myself) SSD OCZ Vertex 4 256 Gb
- Windows 10
- no dust , checked.
It used to fly like a rocket, but now it slows down, that even the mouse cursor moves with 15 FPS
Starts, launches applications relatively quickly. The video doesn't slow down. But windows, for example, are hard to resize/drag.
I'm thinking about throttling myself , because. battery killed (90% of the time was always plugged in). Almost no autonomy.
But even connected to the network, it slows down.
how can I check throttling, or even find out the reason for the drop in performance?

Stupidly, reinstall Windu, do not connect to the Internet, install drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website. Test.
If OK, the issue is closed.
If it slows down, change the thermal paste.
Or vice versa, first change the thermal paste, then Windu and Firewood.
Did you change the temperature of the sipiyu and the video chip?
I had about the same thing after I put new firewood on the vidyuhu. Try to roll back, if it's better, then you don't need to do anything else.
