Why are some pseudo-graphics not showing up in the CentOS 7 console?

There is a pingtop utility. As planned, it should look like this:

but it looks like this:

I can't figure out if there are any missing fonts, or pseudographic elements.
This behavior is both through the console and via ssh. Tested on Centos 7 and Debian 10
