Recently, while analyzing information on domains in the RU zone, I came across some strange domains that have a release date indicated several years ago, but they are still delegated and fully functioning.
Here's an example:

Perhaps the hoster keeps to himself.
But there is no definite answer.
You can pretend to be a fool (I want to buy this domain, I just can’t) and write to the support of the masterhost and ask why the domain is occupied by them and is not released.

Here the question is not in the masterhost, but in the administration of the RU domain.
The procedure for delegating is written in the rules, and, as it were, everyone is equal there. But it turns out that you can become a little more even than the rest.

If you go to the site nic.ru and search for information on 'wast' domains there, then the status "Vacated" will be displayed on wast.ru. The ru domain zone is such a very strange object, just like in a cartoon about Winnie the Pooh. It may well be some technical jamb that no one paid attention to. Or maybe some form of blocking the domain "to the first person who is interested", who will immediately be informed that the domain is in the domain store and costs N kilorubles.
