Who in the organization has an approved plan for dealing with equipment failure or emergencies in the server room?
For each sneeze, the boss requires that there be a piece of paper, according to which any conditional cleaning lady could fix the Server / SHD / UPS / etc.
I would be very grateful if you share a sample.

If the plan is not for show, then
1 you need to determine a list of the most likely emergencies,
2 a list of actions to eliminate them or minimize damage
3 a list of skills necessary to complete p2
for example:
1 Possible problems:
a) disk failure in the storage system,
b) Unscheduled work with the electrician / or problems with the UPS.
c) failure of air conditioners in the server room
2 Actions:
a) step-by-step instructions for removing a disk from the raid array, identifying it, replacing it, inserting a new disk into the array, monitoring the rebuild of the array.
b) Step-by-step instructions for correctly stopping servers and storage systems, the order of turning on servers and storage systems
3 to train and test the skills of the person who will carry out the instructions - this must be a specific person and in your absence he replaces you.
4 provide the necessary stock of consumables and spare parts for timely replacement (disks for storage systems, batteries for UPS, etc.)
Do not write instructions for third-party untrained personnel to repair equipment.
At most, you can describe the switching scheme to the reserve, if, for example, you need to manually turn on the switch or something like that.
By writing instructions, you will dig your own grave, because. in any mistake of the staff (and it will certainly be) you will be to blame.
I would advise modifying the instruction from two points
1. De-energize the equipment
2. Notify the immediate supervisor.
If a person is obliged to call an administrator who cannot be called, then you will frame this person.
Is there a leader? So let him lead the process of liquidating the state of emergency, let him have a headache how to get through to you, this is his job, to solve organizational issues.
Well, write it down. The administrator must be able to work with documentation.
Better yet, send it to a safety engineer.
Emergency in the server room
cleaning lady could fix the server
My friends, with this piece of paper the boss will only cover his ass in the sense that instead of the second admin we have an extra engineer. In reality, no one, and I in the first place, will not let a conditional cleaning lady unattended even into the server room, not to mention the rack or equipment in general.
Thank you all for your opinion, I will definitely take it into account.
