Search Engine Optimization
Pauchek, 2016-01-22 11:49:41

Which works from the list can be related to optimization, and which ones must be done at the site development stage?

Dear experts! I ask for your advice in order to understand the situation. I ordered a website (online store) from one freelancer. It seems that the site is made, but search engines do not see it. When developing, no symantics, tags, articles, etc. were done. Such a naked site. A friend advised me to ask the developer: "Where is the sitemap.xml file available on my site?". The answer was given: "you do not have such a file, this is done when optimizing the site." A friend says that this should have been done after the commissioning of the site. The developer claims that: "optimization and site creation are 2 different services" and sends a list of optimization works:
1. Drawing up a semantic core
• analysis of competitors included in the TOP-10 search engines
• selection of the most appropriate keywords,
• analysis of the frequency and effectiveness of requests.
2. Work on filling the site (content)
• analysis of the site in order to optimally distribute keywords between pages
• preparation of terms of reference for a copywriter for processing or writing new texts.
• writing and placing texts for promoted pages and their optimization
3. Analysis of usability, design and layout of the Site and recommendations for their improvement.
If she was going to do this work, then it is strange to see this item
here .
• optimization of meta-data, site structure, site maps in XML and PHP formats
• creation of up-to-date ROBOTS.txt
• analysis of internal links on the site, search and analysis of warnings, comments and errors in the webmaster panel
• analysis for duplicate pages and "broken" links on the site • Checking
for the correctness of setting statistics counters
• Setting goals in Yandex.Metrica
This is done at the project delivery stage, usually. different cuts (number of visitors, traffic sources, bounce rate, etc.)
7. Preparation and submission of a report listing the work done to optimize the site.
8. Preparation of recommendations for necessary changes on the Site
9. Development of a promotion strategy
Please share your opinion whether all these works are purely optimization or some items MUST have been done at the site development stage. Considering that the same specialist does it.
PS And something my gut whispers loudly that they lead me by the nose (((

@Pauchek

1. Compilation of the semantic core

Everything from this point is pure optimization, should not be done during development
Optimization
Usually the customer provides texts, if not, then yes, this is done when creating for a fee
Writing is one thing, the developer himself can't write lyrics about chainsaws!
Placement - yes, this is the responsibility of the developer, usually limited to, for example, 50 articles further for additional. fee
Optimization of posted articles is generally the third, if the CMS provides for some kind of internal linking, then it is not optimization, but if it needs to be done with a certain redistribution of weights, and not just <<previous || next >> then this is optimization for some money
Creation
For what purpose? It must be of sufficient quality and so
Creation
Creation, and meta-data depends on TK, I would attribute it to optimization
Not that, not that, this is support already
In general, they should not be after creation, so this is a low-quality creation. total creation.
Depends on the TK, rather the creation, we set 1 counter for free, the rest for extra. money
Optimization, more precisely, this is already promotion
Creation
According to the TK, if he needs to create 80 subdomains for the regions, and the TK is registered then the creation.
Support
If I have done a good website, what recommendations can I give? Support consider it.
What strategy? If contextual advertising - then this is promotion. If SEO strategies are optimization. But this is not included in the basic creation of the site.

As it were, yes, these are two different services. But ideally they should run together.

The search engine should see the site without any sitemap after it is added to Yandex Webmaster. It's just a matter of time. Usually after 2 weeks (depending on the domain). But somehow I had a site that appeared in the search after 3 months.
Creating a sitemap.xml, I personally think that it is not included in the standard understanding of a "turnkey site" because. This is an optimization Primary truth. There is also a deeper one. because in general, there are a lot of works on sites, and if EVERYTHING is done within the framework of the phrase "turnkey", then the service will cost at least 150 thousand
. I did it myself, no big deal.
For those who like to get a "turnkey website", I would recommend first finding a person who will competently create a technical specification and find a developer. Either a friend or for money. Otherwise, there are many things to be surprised about. Why is this and that not there?
In the process of working with your site, you will learn a lot more. I remember when I created my first website.
And what then to go and say to the developer, you deceived me, you didn’t do it, is it wrong?!...

@Oleg_imarketer

It looks like the contractor got in)) The client's Wishlist is growing at an exorbitant pace .... It looks like there was no TK, but it was .. it was implied ....
All of the above has nothing to do with the development of the site. This is site support and optimization as part of SEO promotion ...
