Which postal service should I switch to?
Good day friends!
We use a free version of Google's mail service at our organization, we have expanded and the current mailbox limit is no longer enough, the question arose of moving corporate mail to another service, because Google is expensive to buy ... Advise what is better to choose cheaper than Google ($ 5 per box per month ) with a priority on fault tolerance and "unlimited"? While I'm looking at ms exchange (one-time payment for the local version), but after reading the reviews, I feel like I'll have to administer it all the time...

If there are not enough free Google boxes, then the organization has reached a size where it can afford $ 5 per account. If not, it is worth reconsidering the development strategy.
There are many options, but Google is optimal in terms of price / quality ratio, the rest is either more enterprise (for example, Office 365), or less reliable and entails dancing with a tambourine or other problems (Yandex, mail.ru, local mailer / exchange).
Raise your mail service in some correct jurisdiction. You will kill a bunch of problems, starting with significant savings and ending with information protection. The latter in Russian realities becomes especially critical even in the case of placement on Google and Microsoft, not to mention Mail.ru and Yandex, the situation when any on-demand opera (and according to official data there were more than 700k such requests last year) can easily rummage through your mail cannot be recognized as normal.
A properly configured mail system does not require support except for software updates.
I won't go into details here, but if there is interest, I'm ready to discuss it privately.
In general, the management suggest choosing either Exchange Online or staying on Google for a fee. Now we have a limit of 50 mailboxes on Google. With a reserve for the future, we take into account 100 boxes as a necessity.
For the price that Exchange Online that Google turns out +\- the same. The question is which is better to choose? The same Microsoft has a global address book, calendars, tasks, etc. Does Google have it in the same convenient version? The pros and cons of the two options would be correct to understand.
Free mailboxes gmail, MTA (Postfix+SASL) on VPS. Postfix does not need anything to send to domain addresses, SASL is just what is needed to send from domain addresses. Gmail allows you to send "send as" emails with login/password authentication.
For fault tolerance - 2-3 such vps from different hosts.
Of the pluses - MTA does not store mail locally (only for the duration of the transfer), so no special capacities are needed. DB is also not needed. Mail clients are also not needed - only free mailboxes of any popular service. Of the minuses - you will have to manually backup each box separately, if at all.
