Which of the HDD manufacturers are the most well-established at the present time?

I remember stories about woodpeckers (IBM DTL) and other fails. I'm going to buy a 2.5'' SATA drive, around a terabyte. It can be much less if there are significantly more reliable ones, but, say, half a TB. The main criterion is a long and happy life in a hopping laptop . Price, of course, also matters. Who will advise what? Thanks in advance.

In general, according to your request - the most correct answer is SSD

In the 2.5" format - ONLY Seagate (this is my wildly huge IMHO)
right now in my netbook (which is also often dragged carelessly in a bag) there is a 120 GB disk, which I bought already on December 21, 2007 - despite the fact that in the laptop it turned out to be only six months ago - and before that it was hellishly used as a portable one (and for the last couple of years it was generally lying in a bag without an aluminum case - it was simply inserted into a sata-usb adapter card).
I agree - the answer does not quite fit the request - "recommended at _current_ time"

So far, Western Digital seems to be the best, but not all discs are equally useful. You need to go to newegg and amazon and choose the right model with the maximum number of stars. At the same time, there should naturally be a lot of evaluations, i.e. the model must be mature enough.

I would recommend a 256 GB SSD inside and an external drive like a 3 TB WD MyBook.

There are only two of them left for ordinary screws, western digital and seagate, western digital bought hitachi, samsung sold seagate.
In general, everything is about the same, only backup is reliable. Expecting reliability from one screw is simply stupid, the probability of failure for one screw is 50 to 50 either it will break or not. There is either a raid for greater accessibility or a backup for reliability.

Based on my experience, I will suggest choosing from Western Digital products. Seagate and Hitachi have not been pleased with reliability lately.
But it is impossible in principle to guarantee a long trouble-free operation of a hard drive of any manufacturer - if the stored information is important, backups and backups again.

Personal experience:
1. Toshiba 640GB - after a year and a half, bad's appeared on a laptop working in the office as a server. Still works - made a disk for additional backups.
2. Western Digital 500GB Blue Scorpio - after three years, bad's appeared on a work laptop that was driven from work to home and worked almost every day. Still works as portable. The laptop had two HDD bays, the second one was also Blue Scorpio - now it works for the new owner without any problems.
3. Seagate 500GB Hybrid 2pcs. - worked for two years, there were no problems, but they turn on / off loudly. The laptop is also working, fussing at work-home every day.
PS If you buy a 1TB disk, you will get a slightly faster access speed as a bonus than 500GB.

I think if you need it

a long and happy life in a hopping laptop

then it’s worth thinking about ssd, it doesn’t have to be afraid of any shaking, etc.

Of course, this may be the case, but the HDD from samsung is not only flying with me ...

I told you in the last question . In what language is it better to write a personal account? wrote a link to a search engine like google, where the first link is a simple solution.

Indeed, everything is very well described in the articles that can be found in the search.
But, in short, it can be described as follows:
1. Creating a table in the database with users
2. Creating a script responsible for connecting to the database
3. Creating a script responsible for user authorization
4. Creating a script responsible for displaying the private part of the personal account.
