Which laptop to choose for a student programmer?
Recommend a laptop for a student programmer with a budget of ≈850$.
To be honest, I haven’t had a computer / laptop at home for about 10 years, so I’ll just pour into the topic of programming, but in any case, I need a normal laptop for + - an adequate price (the less the better) for work, well, and for toys to pull like kski.
Initially, I thought about taking a used poppy, but they dissuaded me, arguing that you can find the same characteristics for less money, while in search.
Approximate desired characteristics:
- diagonal 15 (initially considered 13ku, but they said it would be inconvenient for programming)
- i3 / i5 percent (there are still doubts whether it is worth considering ryzen, they write differently everywhere)
- ssd 256GB (xs norms or better 512 )
- ram 4 (or better 8/16)
- 4 cores (or better 6/8)
- preferably with os
- ips screen
- I don’t rummage in video cards, but it seems to be better discrete
Such things, there are a couple of options in mind, can someone tell me yes / no or your own vario?

diagonal 15 (initially considered 13ku, but they said it would be inconvenient for programming)it’s not even 15 to say that it’s divinely convenient: it’s worth having a monitor in a stationary place. but carrying 15 is much more inconvenient than 13.
ram 4 (or better 8/16)16. as a last resort - 8. modern IDEs eat memory like crazy. And if you still need emulators / virtual machines / dockers, then it’s a disaster
I'm not good at video cardsI don’t rummage in toys, but for programming (unless programming for video cards) it makes absolutely no difference whether it is built-in or discrete.
For comfortable work, IMHO, now the minimum config:
- ssd;
- 8 RAM;
- 4 cores (preferably 8)
This is the level that allows you to work in Ide with minimal
comfort and worry about the number of tabs in a
parallel browser open at a minimum.
Then everything depends on the area of programming - for example, for programming under android, as already mentioned above, 8 gigs of RAM is not enough, because. I need an emulator all the time.
If you want to periodically play something - look for a slightly more powerful processor and a discrete video card
MacBook Air on M1 with a student discount of about 800 bucks is just coming out.
If not a Mac, then look at the ryzen 4000/5000 with 8-16 GB of RAM
for work, well, and that would pull toys like kski
Shorter.
MONIQ is not important - that 13 that 15 is not enough
Proc i3 of the 10th generation or higher (ryzen slag)
RAM - from !!! 8GB is better than 16
Disk ssd 256 minimum!!! it is better to install Windu 512
from the torrent, the LTSB version!!! because home or professional is garbage with a bunch of unnecessary special stages. Anyway, no one ever checks the faces of Windows with private individuals
if the video is still nvidia, although for the COP at 60FPS, the built-in is enough, and the AAA game will not pull out the laptop in principle with a normal price
