How do I keep Windows 8.1 pre-installed on a laptop I just bought?

How do I keep Windows 8.1 pre-installed on a laptop I just bought?
As I understand it, there is not just Windows, there is the possibility of auto-recovery of the system.
I want to delete everything on the hard drive, play around.
And then, perhaps, return to what it was.

Yes, Windows is normal there, with some proprietary programs. Use acronis true image, it will create a complete boot disk image.

If the laptop is with UEFI, pre-installed windows can be deleted without fear, the key is sewn into the UEFI itself of the motherboard. It's just that when you need to restore the licensed OS, you need to select the distribution kit that matches the sticker.

There, in most cases, there is a utility that allows you to write the contents of the recovery partition to a USB flash drive or disks. And the key is generally stored in UEFI.
