Which laptop to buy msi gl65 or macbook m1 air?
Hello!
I'm going to buy a new laptop one of these days. The budget allows you to choose between msi gl65 leopard intel i7-10750H 32gb ram, 256 gb ssd i geforce gtx 1650 video card and the well-known macbook air m1 in the basic configuration - 8 gb rama i 256 gb ssd. Now, at the very beginning of my journey with web development, at the moment I use only vsl + figma + photoshop + gchrome (with a huge number of tabs) + mamp. "I use" is of course loudly said, since the current computer does not pull everything at the same time. In general, I understand that msi should cover all tasks and work perfectly. But I also wanted to try switching to Mac OS for a long time. In addition, apparently, most web developers use Macbooks. But confuses 8 GB of RAM and the inability to increase it in the future, and 16 GB is already beyond the budget. What can you suggest in this matter?

Vkusovschina and holivar, everyone will drown for their own, for example, Windows is unusual and inconvenient for me, although it will be more powerful on hardware, I have been behind poppies for 8 years already, just poppy is closer. For me, the msi looks dumb, it is unlikely that it lives on battery in the operating mode for more than two hours, the full hd screen is 15", for coding it is more pleasant to have a larger pixel density, the gaming potential in it is also not very good by modern standards. Maybe if Linux only rolls on it but if you need a photoshop, then in short I would take a poppy, even a basic one.
MacBook and MSI are like Tide and powder. Once you try Tide, you will never go back to regular powder. Are you sure you need it?
If you take into account the above criteria equally, you will get a very compromise solution, to which there may then be claims on all sides.
- 8 gigabytes of RAM for web development using the entire set of up-to-date resource-intensive software is extremely small. You will quickly have to start learning to severely limit yourself in the number of browser tabs, switch to the built-in browser, abandon overdressed IDEs or their ilk in favor of more lightweight software, including in terms of functionality, learn to raise the environment without MAMP.
- Sacrificing on other fronts for the sake of wanting to try a new OS is a very controversial compromise. For web development, Linux is just as well suited (in some aspects, and more). For many developers, the decisive factor in choosing a MacBook is not the OS, but such characteristics as the quality of the display, trackpad, battery life and weight. According to these parameters, MacBooks have a minimum of competitors.
Decide what is less of a priority for you and what you are willing to sacrifice.
