Which Joomla module hosts other modules?

I have about a dozen modules on my site,
I would like the modules to be grouped into containers. and in containers apply your style design.
Is there a module that acts as a container for other modules by ID or by name of an indefinite position? so that you can then apply the layout.
All this is necessary so that the site can be updated and there is no need to edit the standard code of Joomla and other modules and plugins.

In version 3.5, we added the ability to add modules to materials out of the box. But still advice: a bunch of modules - performance problems.
