Which drives to choose in a small server?
Help please with the choice of disks in a small server.
The previous disk died after working for 6 years, you need 2 new disks in RAID 1 for a small file database for 30 users. Worth mat. ASUS P6T WS Pro board, it has sas with a raid controller.
Therefore, the choice is 2 disks in total, preferably up to 25k rubles, a small amount up to 250GB. I can’t decide - either take 2 sas ssd or 2 sata ssd (like samsung 850 pro for example) or take 2 regular sas hard drives...

It’s better to take 2 ordinary sas hard drives for a file server, since you won’t see the maximum speed over the network with ssd, and they have a smaller resource than ordinary ones, if there are a maximum number of read write operations, then SSDs will die in a year. of course, in processing database requests, the ssd will win in time, but it's up to you, it all depends on your needs
