Which drive is right for iMac?

Good day, please tell me which drive is compatible with iMac 2011.
Is it possible to insert the same form factor or do you need a special one.
Do I need to write something in the system to replace it.
I didn’t find anything on this topic, except how to disassemble the super drive and pull the drive out of it.
It is necessary to restore the internal one, please do not offer to buy an external one and there will be happiness.
PS. Inserted from HP when the system boots, it checks it as usual, but does not see it in the system and, accordingly, does not read disks. Did I get a defective one or am I doing something wrong?

For all Apple computers, you can go to the technical certificate from them by serial (model), and there, for each replaced component, characteristics and recommended models are written.

So I'll say "buy an external one and there will be happiness."
I'm not a Mac expert, but this week I was fiddling with an iMAC 21.5 mid-2010. They put a small DVD in his slot DVD drive, and he was there for several years. I was not warned - I then stuck a regular disk with the Windows distribution (it was necessary to install the second system). The drive was killed by joint efforts.
The case ended with the fact that I put an SSD in place of the drive through an adapter, on it - Windows with the second system.
I installed Samsung from an external USB-DVD - no problems. Seen from under the OS X, and from Windows.
