Where to look for earnings as an illustrator

There is free time for hacks, but it is not clear where to look for them.
I created a free-lance account , even bought PRO placement - but among the projects - only logos for a penny and any work on the profile is interrupted by a lower price, with a terrible portfolio.

Maybe I'm looking on the wrong site or I don't have jobs for this business?

At one time, I asked the same question, I also created accounts on freelance, weblancer and somewhere else, but this did not really justify itself. Then I identified areas of work, topics and registered on specialized forums and already offered the same services there. Since almost all participants are potential customers, there are much more requests, questions and suggestions. There is still a plus in that you will gain a name and reputation on a specialized resource, which means that you will be recommended and, with the support of the relevance of the topic, there will always be offers.

In my experience, finding something worthwhile on Russian-language freelance exchanges can be very problematic. Try to find a studio and outsource free time to it.

What prevents you from making your own, excellent portfolio?

Search oDesk. For example, here are the current requests there for illustration . Also not God knows what, but as an option.
